Benji wins overall World Cup – the first for Austria this winter!
Benjamin Karl wins the PGSL in Valmalenco, Italy, and crowns himself overall World Cup winner! With only 24 years, Benji has already two small and two big World cups at home – wow!
“You got to stay cool in a situation like that”, so Karl rather cool after his victory in Italy. He eliminated one after another of the snowboarding who-is-who: First the Canadian Michael Lambert, then his friend and team colleague Andi Promegger – who also was in the run for the World Cup victory, then Olympia-winner Jasey Jay Anderson, and in the final the Slovenian Rok Flander.
After ten races Benji was nine times at the podium, won 3 times and don’t forget silver at Olympia! What a successful season. His trainer Felix Stadler would be very proud if Benji confirmed his performance at the finals in La Molina.
At the ladies: Doris Günther is in the race again for the overall World Cup – with rank 3 in Valmalenco! We are really looking forward to the World Cup finals! Again a superb overall performance of the ÖSV-ladies-team: 3. Doris Günther , 4. Claudia Riegler,5. Marion Kreiner, 6. Julia Dujmovits,12. Heidi Neururer, 15. Ina Meschik.
At the boarder-cross on Friday in Valmalenco Mario Fuchs wins the second rank.
